Manchester United warmed up for the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final with Manchester City by going top of the Premier League, with a 4-0 win over Hull City.
Wayne Rooney scored all four goals as United leapfrogged Arsenal and Chelsea to reach the summit with 50 points. Manchester City also go into the game on the back of a win after beating Scunthorpe United 4-2 at Glanford Park, in the FA Cup on Sunday. City head to Old Trafford with a one goal advantage, following Carlos Tevez's double at Eastlands last week. The Argentinian took great delight in scoring against former employers, as City came from a goal down to win the tie 2-1. United arrived at the semi-final stage after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barnsley and Tottenham Hotspur in a repeat of last year's final. Darron Gibson scored twice in the first half to wrap up the victory and set up the derby clash.
